Sky's Disgusting Contempt For Celtic & Scottish Football Is Beyond A Joke!

Yesterday was a day when you would have been hard pressed to find a Celtic fan without a big smile on his fizzer after Celtic's dramatic 4-3 victory over Motherwell at Fir Park. Twitter was awash with comments but one of them stood out more than the rest and it came from YouTuber @MarleyThirteen who rightly had something to say about Sky and their coverage of the game in Scotland:

Sky Sports did not deserve that Motherwell Celtic match. 15 minutes build up and 1 pundit for a classic 4-3 game. Our game deserves better.

How absolutely spot on has this man got it? Perhaps we all get too used to Sky and their sub-par half hearted coverage of the game up here but the poor quality of it didn't even register with me until this tweet came to my attention. There's been many occasions to bemoan the pundits with their biased Sevco views and general lack of knowledge, but that's to be expected when you have guys like Neil McCann, David Tanner and Andy Walker doing the punditry. Neil McCann is a sniveling weasel who looks like he's about to burst into tears whenever Celtic score and the only time he brandishes his rule book is when Celtic get a decision. David Tanner is beneath contempt purely for the fact he is quite possibly the worst anchor on any TV football show.,. anywhere. As for Andy Walker, well he is just there, never saying anything interesting or offering an original point of view on any subject other than his acceptance of players diving.... unless they are Celtic players obviously.

How much cash do Scottish football fans contribute to Sky? Should we really be paying money to a broadcaster who holds our game in such contempt when there is now another option in the form of BT Sports, a company who actually has Scottish football's best interests at heart and some tremendous pundits in the form of Chris Sutton and Terry Butcher.? It's important to point out that Sky commentator Ian Crocker does his best to talk up our game but he is the exception rather than the rule. Sky do the bare minimum required to cover Scottish football and most fans up here are absolutely sick of it! Seriously they have gotten away with it for far too long,, giving us the s***** end of the stick while chucking money and resources at the massively over-hyped EPL as if it needs any more.

Well in my opinion the EPL is a complete sham! Nothing but style over substance where overpaid footballers can indulge themselves in a sea of mediocrity while earning money that vastly outstrips their minuscule ability! Sure you get the odd good game but no more than you do in the Scottish Premiership and you can guarantee there won't be one that matches the one played between ourselves and Motherwell yesterday. People actually believe the hype as well, you can normally tell who they are with their blind defence of the product before they rush home to watch a Sky Sports Super Sunday match between Watford and Middlesbrough. It's hard to blame them when it is claimed the best players in the world play in England.. er no they don't, Both Ronaldo and Messi are in Spain at the moment and it is very doubtful either will sign for an English based team in the future.

Perhaps the most galling aspect of Sky's absolute contempt for Scottish football is their clear bias towards any team that is currently playing out of Ibrox. This mob actually go along with the survival myth and make a mockery of the meaning of the word "liquidation" just so they can keep the hordes happy. Make no mistake that Sky would bend over backwards for them and most of the time their anti-Celtic stance is barely hidden. Like a fat man trying to keep his belly in, it sits just out of plain sight always threatening to burst through and reveal itself for the disgusting mess that it is. Hopefully in the future we can find another way to acquire TV money without going cap in hand to that joke of a broadcaster! Sky don't deserve our money.. they deserve our contempt!

Hail Hail

  2. Agree wholeheartedly, even their highlights show has been cut to 15 minutes.
But living in the SW of England I don't have much choice.

  3. Jesus. Sky have no interest in Scottish football, and only offer a token amount to broadcast that pish. Who wins the league every year? What's the point of broadcasting a league that the winner is known before a ball is kicked. Yesterday's game was meaningless. Celtic will still win the league at a canter. Wind your neck in and realise that Scottish football as a product is unappealing to anyone except fans of the clubs. What neutral fan wants to tune in to watch Ross County vs Kilmarnock? Really? So why would sky chuck money at it? Sky is a business, and Scottish football is lucky any broadcaster wants to show the utter pointless drivel everyweek. They only do it out of obligation as a British broadcaster. Careful what you wish for. The game is dead.

    1. Wtf are you on about? 90% of the games played in England are meaningless as well. And 90% of the players are over rated shite. Get off your high horse and realize the EPL is as meaningless as the SPL. Nobody in Europe could give a toss about English teams, cannon fodder f the big noys in Europe!

    3. Spot on,Look at Manchester United, they have thrown millions at a player past his peak, and spunked 100m on another overhyped player they got rid of,and they are struggling. The EPL attract big name players but ones past their prime.Leicester won the title last season there's an indictement of the EPL standard ,not a positive one

    4. It's not about standards, it's about entertainment. That's what sky sell. There is no entertainment watching the old firm pump teams in front of empty seats every week. And as for players past their prime, Aguero? Pogba? De Gea? Costa? Hazard? I can go on and on. Scotland biggest name? Who?

    6. Yes, you do need to say more than Leiscter! Nobody outside of England can even spell it! You lot will hang your hat on that win forever! You think because ONE time ONE team upset the big spenders that your league is legit? Don't be ridiculous. Man City and Chelsea were irrelevant until sugar daddy's bought them. No world wide support, no fans at all. Teams don't even try to win your league, or try wo win Europa. They just want to survive and stick to the gravy train. It's pathetic.

    7. I'm Scottish, and Switzerland he'd off from Scottish football years ago. As did most people. How many neutral fans would watch two teams outside the old firm play? Really? It's no longer a sport, it's an entertainment sky produce. There is no entertainment in Scottish football, except when the old firm play, and sky only show that in the hope there is a mass brawl and referees getting thwacked with coins again.

  5. We're the laughing stock of Europe. Never mind, once Brexit comes we can use more of our young indigenous players & give them a chance to prove them all wrong. Just like Andy Murray has!!!

  6. Unfortunately, the Bournemouth v Liverpool game was almost identical

    1. Have you any idea how childish you sound? This isn't even an argument about rangers and administration. Grow the fuck up, no one cares whether they went bust or not. Stop going on about it and understand that Scottish football is dire. When rangers were in the lower divisions attendances at parked plummeted. Why? Because no one wanted to pay money to watch utter pish get steamrolled every other week. Ross County? Motherwell? What's the actual point of them? Seriously?
