Incompetent or Corrupt? - You Decide

I'm a little tardy in writing this article but the old saying of "better late than never" certainly applies in this case. Unfortunately it also seems to apply to certain officials who are quickly giving us the greatest conundrum in the history of great conundrums. Are Scottish Football Referees incompetent or simply corrupt? Yesterday's game at Dingwall between Ross County and Celtic served up plenty of room for discussion as referee Don Robertson left it late to help County salvage a point and almost scupper Scott Brown's chances of leading his troops out in a Hampden Semi-Final against Sevco.

Scottish Football's X-Files: The Truth Is Out There

One of my all time favourite shows is The X-Files. As a Celtic fan, blogger and keen follower of the strange goings on in the world of Scottish football, it is fascinating to spot the similarities between the conspiracy program and our national sport. Fox Mulder is the main character on X-Files. A truth seeker trying to expose a group of men who use the mainstream media as a tool to further their agenda and keep the unsuspecting public from hearing the facts. Sound familiar? It should because there are many Fox Mulders out there trying to expose similar things in Scotland.

Celtic & Death of a Zombie Club

Everyone knows the only way to kill a zombie is with a head-shot. What many people don't know is that it's a little more difficult to kill a zombie club. While Rangers shuffled off this mortal coil in 2012 they have been replaced by Sevco - who can only be described as a rotting mess that just doesn't want to die. There have been many predictions that sevco are about to meet their maker. Unfortunately we are yet to be treated to such a glorious day and as the clock ticks down to another clash between us and THEM, we should probably be thankful that is the case.

Scottish Football's Image Has Been Damaged By Jealousy Of Glasgow Celtic

How many of us regard Scottish football as a barren wasteland of zero talent, two bob clubs and a hindrance to leagues like the EPL who supposedly bring us top quality football? I only ask because lately there seems to be more and more people subscribing to that theory and unfortunately for our game it is being perpetuated by those who should know better, Don't get me wrong, running down Scottish football is nothing new but since the arrival of new Rangers into the Premier League there seems to be an orchestrated effort to ramp up the negativity. It's not hard to work out why. The aforementioned agenda actually has hee haw to do with Scottish football and everything do with a rampant Celtic tearing every team in Scotland a new one on their way to another title. Put simply there are those who do not like it and are miffed at the fact that a certain club is not "back where we belong" As we comprehend this line of thinking it is worth remembering these wise words.

Stewart Gilmour's Hurt Is A Joy to Behold

The worst kept secret in Scottish Football is out! For the last five years fans have wondered just who really pulls the strings in the Scottish game and finally we have the answer. Step forward one Peter Lawell, Chief Executive of Celtic and all round scourge of the sevconian. Our very own Pedro has long been viewed with suspicion by the envious eyes of the sevvies and finally someone with a little bit of public standing has stepped forward to re-iterate what they have said all along. Hard to believe he's been caught isn't it? Pedro has been publicly revealed as the mastermind behind the whole crisis engulfing our game and we have to wonder whether this unmasking will deter his plans to conquer the world. Who is the brave soul who has put his head above the parapet to state this unspoken but sinister truth. None other than Stewart Gilmour of St.Mirren fame!

We Can't Wait To Get Going Again....God Bless You Brendan

There are many things to admire about Brendan Rodgers and what he has achieved in his short time at Celtic. After Ronny's spell in charge, the club went into the close season under a very dark cloud with plenty of regrets and much reflection needing done. Yes the league title had been secured but the Scottish Cup campaign saw us knocked out by the up and coming sevco. The only thing worse than a shootout defeat at the hands of the remnants of Rangers would be losing to the original incarnation. Fans were outraged and had little faith in the board to act in a manner that would see us strengthen our grip in Scotland as well as create some waves in Europe. Thankfully they came up trumps and the rest is history.

Some Celtic Fans Still Buy The Daily Record... Stop Right Now!

There are still Celtic fans who buy the Daily Record!! Shocking isn't it? Despite that simple fact being hard to believe I am pretty sure we all know a Celtic minded person who actually puts their hard earned into that rag of a newspaper. This author certainly does, It makes me sick to my stomach but that is the reality of the situation and it makes you wonder just how low "Scotland's Champion" will sink before some fans wake up and smell the coffee. Why help fund a newspaper which has such a deep rooted hatred of Celtic? It couldn't make any less sense if they were buying the official Rangers News magazine and mark my words the more desperate the hacks get, the worse the digs at Glasgow Celtic will become.

Kieran Tierney Rated at Only £10m... By Who?

Another day, another transfer rumour regarding one of our players hits the headlines and I for one am absolutely sick to the back teeth of it! According to several newspapers including the Daily Record, Kieran Tierney is a £10m transfer target for Manchester United and the Red Devils have been tracking the young fullback for sometime. Quite how they are managing to do this when KT has been injured for months is anyone's guess but the real issue here lies not with the chase but with the price itself. How can these journalists write such nonsense with a straight face. If Luke Shaw is worth £30m then what makes them believe that KT would be sold for a fraction of that amount? In fact who has decided on this figure?

Brendan Rodgers To Hire An Authorized Lookalike?

There is a great scene from a season 13 episode of "The Simpsons" that our manager should take a look at. In "The Bart Wants What It Wants" Homer has taken Rainier Wolfecastle into Moe's Tavern to introduce him to the bar's regulars. Due to Rainier's star power the regulars go crazy and begin asking him all sorts of stupid questions.

Sevco Smearing Of Innocent Fans Becoming A Habit

BRAVO CELTIC! There is something beautiful about the club holding back £35,000 of ticket money to pay for the criminal damage caused by sevvies at Celtic Park . Anyone who saw pictures of the wrecked toilets would have been absolutely appalled at the actions of a group of fans who have become emboldened since the original club's demise in 2012. Honestly is it not enough they destroy Celtic property, but their own club actually doesn't stump up for the damage either! As far as I understand it there are certain agreements between Celtic and Rangers that state the away club must pay up for damage if it is caused by their own fans. Guess that died with the old Rangers eh?

Celtic To Battle Rangers For Starlet

According to the latest transfer news emanating from those bastions of truth at the Daily Record, Glasgow Celtic and Sevco 5088 are set for a transfer tug of war to land 21 year old Falkirk midfielder Craig Sibbald. Aberdeen, Hearts and Nottingham Forest are also said to be looking at the player but apparently his favoured destination is Glasgow. Falkirk manager Peter Houston has allegedly offered Sibbald a new deal but the fact it remains unsigned and his contract runs out in the summer suggests he will be moving to pastures new for the 2017/18 season. 

Walter Smith's Sevco Love-In Shows Wacko Jacko Up For The Lickspittle He Is!!

Well lo and behold it's the return of Watty to the spotlight of Scottish Football, and as per usual where the cardigan is concerned it's all moans and groans that sevco aren't spending any money. Yes the Daily Record, continuing on from their slightly random "10 years on at Rangers" theme interviewed the ex Gers boss where he urges the new club to spend their way to oblivion... sort of. As funny as yesterday's Record piece was, it has now been covered in great detail by other bloggers. What I want to discuss today is the interview with Walter Smith that appeared in TODAY's Daily Record. Trust me it's an absolute shining example of everything associated with sevco: hypocrisy, ignorance of facts and downright lies. Wonder why the sevconians are taken for a ride by every smooth talking Larry Langley type? Look no further than this "Exclusive" interview.

Sevco Fans Taken For Mugs... AGAIN!

Seems you don't have to be much of a player to capture the attention of the Scottish media these days, not if your a Sevco target and certainly not if your attracting their attention by warming some other side's subs bench. Once upon a time our media dined out on stories of the moonbeam variety, the Gascoigne's, De Boers and Laudrup's all jetted in to sign for the now defunct club and helped them on their way to extinction with the laptop loyal turning a blind eye. Glasgow Rangers spent money like it was going out of fashion. 

Why Chris Sutton Has A Point About Celtic...

Chris Sutton has never been a man to mince his words when it comes to his own opinion, during his short time as a pundit the big Englishman has irked just about everyone with his no nonsense, cut to the chase style of punditry that is completely alien to the vast number of hacks masquerading as journalists in this country. Most of the vitriol aimed at Chris has come from the Sevco fans who are so used to binging on a diet of feelgood stories that they automatically see any truthful statement as an attack on their club. Chris, to his great credit does not allow the hate to cloud his judgement, nor does he suffer the same fate other less brave souls have by reverting to the powderpuff journalistic approach that helped consign original Rangers to the liquidation bin. Chris is a respected pundit and when he talks people listen. Let's hope the powers that be at Celtic Park have their ears pricked up where the big man's latest point is concerned. Chris wants Dermot Desmond and the Celtic board to go for the jugular and "finish Rangers forever"

Dear Mr McLean, Thanks For Your Efforts.... Here's Your Reward!!

Words fail me.....Actually no they don't because this sort of stuff is as predictable as an episode of NCIS and although you fully expect it from the corrupt SFA, it doesn't make the pain any less profound when they inevitably show the studs to our beloved club! Just minutes after writing my previous blog HERE. I am now going to sound like a complete hypocrite but you know I actually don't care because this latest decision from the SFA sums up EXACTLY what it's like to be a Celtic fan in this wee backwater known as Scottish Football: Why am I so angry? Well the officials for the game against Sevco on Saturday have just been announced and the referee will be none other than Steven McLean!!! Oh it get's better because not only will Mr McLean be in the middle, his sidekick Frank Connor has also been selected to be his assistant!

No Celtic fan needs the backstory on these two clowns but here it is anyway: Two years ago both men were part of the Scottish Cup semi-final officiating team as Celtic battled with Inverness Caledonian Thistle for a place in the final. Celtic were leading 1-0 when Leigh Griffiths saw his netbound header punched off the line by Caley defender Josh Meekings. So blatant was this act that Stevie Wonder could have seen it down a coal mine, yet not one of the three officials that day managed to spot it! Just in case anyone accuses this author of re-writing history or indeed paranoia, let's have a look at the incident in question:

There is just no way those officials could have missed that blatant handball and what makes the decision worse is that Celtic went on to lose the game, ending their hopes of a treble under then manager Ronny Deila. The officials that day should have saw their careers come to an end amid a thorough, independent investigation into corrupt officials in the Scottish game... They didn't and indeed the SFA are giving the impression that they have been patiently waiting to hand this game to Mr McLean as a reward for his efforts. It absolutely reeks and once again Celtic we will be up against it as predicted in my previous article. 

This author fully expects that shower to get at least a penalty on Hogmany and if these two officials have a hand in anything sinister their names should be dragged through the mud. Of course they won't and should the pair make a healthy contribution to the Sevco cause they will most probably find themselves handed another big match as a reward for their stellar efforts. If this blog sounds over the top then I make no apologies because it is absolutely sickening to know just what kind of ambush lies in wait for the Bhoys at Ibrox.

Confidence in our players to get the job done is one thing, confidence in the officials to be straight down the line is another and you only need to look at past instances such as the Cadete offside or the Kirk Broadfoot dive to see why myself and other Celtic fans will be worried come Saturday. For now though the SFA have shown they have finally rewarded Mr McLean for that Scottish Cup semi-final. They thought we'd forgotten... we haven't!!!

Taking Care Of Business

In just 3 days time Celtic will travel to Ibrox Park for a Hogmany clash that promises to be an all-action derby against the spirit of their once feared rivals Glasgow Rangers. Of course with the club having the same (worse in some cases) fans it's only natural that we want to inflict as much damage on them as we possibly can to lay down a marker for 2017. Well for now it's time to put that game to the back of our minds because the mighty Celtic have some business to take care of first, a fact that seems to be overlooked by our friends in the media and some Celtic fans in general. 

Good Laughs Come In Threes

Well Christmas is over for another year and as we head towards 2017 we are safe in the knowledge that we can always rely on the good ole Daily Record to constantly outdo themselves in the comedy stakes. Sometimes that paper resembles a struggling TV soap which in desperation for viewers and relevance churns out bigger and bigger action set pieces until it is so far removed from it's roots no one can take it seriously anymore. Perhaps that is the reason for these 3 Christmas crackers churned out by the Rancid Record over the past few days. Prepare yourself because these are absolutely mind bending in their logic.

Rob Kiernan To Fulham:

Today, the Rancid Record has a page entitled "Transfer News Live" Goodness know's why they didn't just name it "Made Up Bull" and be done with it. One of the main stories on this page concerns the Rangers defender Rob Kiernan, a man who was dubbed Champions League Class by a clearly unstable Davie Weir just a few weeks back. Apparently this "Champions League class" centre back is being targeted by English Championship side Fulham. Quite how this tallies up with Weir's claim is anyone's guess. Hold the laughs for now though because their not done yet, oh no! Not only are the cottagers desperate for Rob to put pen to paper, they are willing to fork out 2m for the privilege. Hmm somehow this one doesn't seem too likely

Rangers Lower League Stint Saved Clubs From The Brink:

Been a while since we heard this one trotted out isn't it? For years we have heard how Sevco are the saviors of Scottish football and once again the Rancid Record permits the bold Stuart McCall to peddle the widely debunked myth. Stuart also talks about Rangers being "punished" and informs us that the Bradford rugby team are in administration and people are attempting to save them. Goodness know's what they need saving from because the laws of going out of business don't seem to exist to these people... or is that just for Rangers? How many times does it need stated that the only club on the brink of financial Armageddon are the pretenders currently playing at Ibrox. Treat this rubbish with the contempt it deserves.

Celtic Move For Darlington Nagbe Falls Apart:

Celtic's move for the 10 ten times capped American midfielder is OFF and while every other source confirms that Celtic pulled the plug, the Rancid Record has done some extensive investigating to get to the bottom of the story and exclusively learned that it was Portland Timbers who cancelled the deal. How did they acquire this information? By way of someone's tweet. Just how do these Record reporters do it. Surely there must be a future winner of the TRACE prize for investigative reporting in amongst that mob? 

Odds Of The Record Lying: Do we even need to answer this one?

Celtic will have scouts all over Europe keeping tabs on the best players available and every one will be brought in with the intent of making the team more competitive in the Champions League. However what if we are being too broad in our searches? Supposing there was a guy playing in Scotland right now we that could potentially lure with the promise of Champions League football? Who am I talking about?...... the wonderful Rob Kiernan of course.
