Some Celtic Fans Still Buy The Daily Record... Stop Right Now!

There are still Celtic fans who buy the Daily Record!! Shocking isn't it? Despite that simple fact being hard to believe I am pretty sure we all know a Celtic minded person who actually puts their hard earned into that rag of a newspaper. This author certainly does, It makes me sick to my stomach but that is the reality of the situation and it makes you wonder just how low "Scotland's Champion" will sink before some fans wake up and smell the coffee. Why help fund a newspaper which has such a deep rooted hatred of Celtic? It couldn't make any less sense if they were buying the official Rangers News magazine and mark my words the more desperate the hacks get, the worse the digs at Glasgow Celtic will become.

This is a few days late and I swore to myself I would not write about this but the Daily Record has crossed so many lines lately that there was no way I could stay silent! There are two issues to speak about here. First is when Celtic signed Kouassi Eboue and the Daily Record hacks were in their usual bigoted element with the following headline:

BEASTIE BHOY

Seriously who wrote that? Was it a fully fledged member of Follow Follow by any chance? What kind of demented and deranged mind working for that newspaper thinks that a derogatory term used by sevconians against Celtic is acceptable to use as a headline? It is beyond malicious and right up there with the disgusting attacks aimed at our club from the toothless zombies who represent the very worst element of the dead club's support. A large number of them are absolutely obsessed with child abuse. It can be seen everywhere from their chants at games to twitter and it is VILE! Newspapers like the Daily Record should be calling their twisted support out on this behaviour but instead they gleefully join in. Shame on them!

Secondly is yesterday's complete joke of an article by our old friend Keith Jackson. Here's how the story of the £35,000 withheld by Celtic was spun:

Rangers fans damage toilets - Celtic chase Rangers for money - Four months pass without payment - Celtic keep Rangers ticket money to pay for the damage = Celtic are an absolute disgrace

I mean how do they even manage to spin stuff like this? Maybe we are being too harsh on guys like Jackson because the way he manages to find even the slightest strand of a story and twist it negatively on Celtic is surely the work of an absolute genius. Bottom line is that had Rangers paid the money in the first place there is no problem. End of!

There is something else that baffles me about Keith Jackson. Here is a guy who ensured that his own reputation lay in tatters after his infamous "Wealth Off The Radar" story from 2010. In the much ridiculed piece he portrays Craig Whyte as some sort of financial genius and a billionaire, when easily checkable facts painted quite a different story. Despite that mistake he continues to make such high profile blunders in accuracy, with his latest being the claim that the home team pays for damage by opposing fans. Surely this would encourage loutish behaviour with no deterrent to those doing causing the damage? Did Keith even bother to check before he wrote his article? Predictably some fans took to twitter to screenshot rules which proved he was talking through a hole in his sevco. The man is a joke with all the credibility of a Politician with an expenses account.

Everyone has the right to their own opinion and it is not up to me or anyone else how they spend their money. However any fans still buying the Record surely have to look at the agenda they are setting and wake up to the fact they are funding a sevco fanzine which is hellbent on blackening our club's name by any means necessary. Stop buying it right now!

Hail Hail

  1. I am amazed that ANYONE buys the Record- its level of reporting has been atrocious for about 30 years. I recall a lecturer of mine three decades ago describing the paper as "a rag that tells its readers that they are worthless imbeciles"

    1. Yes mate, would much rather read the bloggers you mention. At least they tell the truth. Personally I'm a big fan of James Forrest. Never miss one of his articles and he's the reason I started writing in the first place. HH

  3. Totally agree with you, the problem is, is that there are still quite a few fans out there who don't read the news from the internet and need to be made aware, something like flyers at the home games should do the trick (though lord knows surely they know what they're reading) in ramming home this point. Hail Hail.

    1. Your 100% correct and a lot of older fans are not aware there are alternative ways to read the news either. Cheers for the comment. HH

  4. I agree that no self respecting Celt should buy the Record whole-heartedly.
Here is where we differ though.
We do not want a press that tells the deluded the hard truth!
    Do we want King gone?
Do we want them to start building from the ground up instead of flailing around like they are drowning.
A crooked press hurts them a lot more than it hurts us.
Do we want their fans to be shamed into some kind of civility?
We on the other hand do have a choice....We can choose to be beelin like the hun...or we can make the fun choice.
Now please ffs sit back, chuckle, laugh, and above all enjoy it

    1. Yes I agree to a certain extent. We do not want the press to start treating us with kid gloves as they do the zombies. All we ask is for a fair hearing. Thanks for your comment mate. HH

  5. The daily records sales are diminishing on a yearly basis .I stopped buying it around 5 years ago and certainly don't miss the copy and paste articles sent from a certain LEVEL . The bloggers are more up to the minute with new stories Celtic newsnow Phil Mac johnjamessite and the clumpany are much better not only for news but entertaining prose.

  6. Never bought that rag since around July/August when they dedicated not one column inch to the entire sevco management and playing staff cuddling and posing with a loyalist flute band who only that day had been out commemorating a bastard who had killed an innocent Catholic. This was at the annual Linfield hatefest.
At this time Celtic had played Barca in Dublin and Inter in Cork.Had they posed with one single republican sympathiser, that scum rag would have printed a full colour 6 page pullout. And I could go on.......
    Don't buy the rag.
