Stewart Gilmour's Hurt Is A Joy to Behold

The worst kept secret in Scottish Football is out! For the last five years fans have wondered just who really pulls the strings in the Scottish game and finally we have the answer. Step forward one Peter Lawell, Chief Executive of Celtic and all round scourge of the sevconian. Our very own Pedro has long been viewed with suspicion by the envious eyes of the sevvies and finally someone with a little bit of public standing has stepped forward to re-iterate what they have said all along. Hard to believe he's been caught isn't it? Pedro has been publicly revealed as the mastermind behind the whole crisis engulfing our game and we have to wonder whether this unmasking will deter his plans to conquer the world. Who is the brave soul who has put his head above the parapet to state this unspoken but sinister truth. None other than Stewart Gilmour of St.Mirren fame!

Stewart is a controversial figure, one the one hand he is a businessman who was the chairman of the Paisley club until recently, on the other he is a sevco apologist whose own blatant agenda in 2012 have made him as much of a mocked figure as Keith "Off the Radar" Jackson. Following the liquidation of Rangers and Newco's refusal for acceptance into the Scottish Premiership, he had this to say:

Five SPL clubs could go bust in weeks if Rangers start life in Division Three

Er what? Yes this famous and often repeated quote was actually said by Stewart and the fact that it didn't happen (nor ever would) has cast just a little doubt over his comments about Pedro. In fact there are reasons to believe that he was in fact lying through his back teeth when he came out with that drivel. Just a wee reminder at this point that NO Scottish football teams went into administration as a result of the decision to make sevco start in Division 3. What about Hearts? you hear the sevvies cry. Sorry folks but Hearts were in bad financial shape BEFORE the whole Rangers liquidation business and would have found themselves staring down the barrel of a financial gun no matter what events transpired at Ibrox. Stewart is indeed nothing more than a sevco apologist who has no impartiality when discussing anything remotely related to them or their issues. Still not convinced?

How about the time Stewart welcomed Charles Green to St.Mirren Park for some tea and biscuits and the chance to take in a game. Charles at that time was launching a charm offensive (sort of) as a way to convince the chairmen of every SPL team to vote in favour of allowing his Newco Rangers into the top league. Most saw through the asset stripper's facade but Stewart couldn't wait to throw open the doors to "ole big hands"  and in the process alienate just about every supporter that the Paisley club had. Charles was even given a guided tour of the boardroom and the details of his discussion with the St.Mirren directors remain a secret to this day. Still not convinced?

In 2013 Stewart scuppered Scottish football league reconstruction plans which would have negatively impacted on his beloved sevco. Newco had won the third division and reconstruction would have meant another season in the bottom tier. Stewart helped to sabotage the whole idea then threatened legal action when some pointed out the obvious. Legal action which was never launched by the way. Even as recently as 2016 he was pandering to the sevvies in a manner that would make the smsm blush by throwing a title party for them on the day they won the Scottish Championship. If is isn't interpreted as the actions of a conflicted man then goodness know's what is.

Of course St.Mirren haven't exactly benefited from the wisdom of Stewart either have they? A few years ago they were an established SPL club who looked to be holding their own in the lower reaches of the division. Fast forward to the present and the club are in such a state that it may take a generation to recover. Rock bottom of the Championship, seven points off the pace and one foot already in league one. A once proud club brought to it's knees by a man we are supposed to take seriously. Pfft not in this lifetime anyway Stewart! Going on his track record and recent remarks about our Chief Executive it is tempting to say that he is nothing more than a hurting sevconian!

Of course Peter Lawell doesn't run Scottish Football but he probably should. Neil Doncaster and Stewart Regan are two non entities who are unfit to run a bath never mind our national game! Pedro at least has some business acumen and the ability to promote something without mentioning a certain deceased club. He will most probably be absolutely furious with this man's absurd comment and rightly so! Where were these champions of justice when David Murray had Scottish Football in his grubby back pocket during the 90's? Why was there no outcry in those days? Simply because back then it was the man they all wanted in power that's why. A man who was sitting proudly on the throne at the big hoose! Stewart can howl at the moon until the cows come home but it won't make his mad ramblings true.

Hail Hail
