It's not the lie that bothers us, it's the insult to the intelligence we find offensive
Evening Times journo (ahem) Chris Jack wrote a strange little article yesterday in which he stated that Rangers are the only side who can stop Celtic dominating Scottish football for the foreseeable future and honestly there are no words to describe it. Jack mentions the financial gap, claiming that Rangers could bridge it and that Celtic would find them worthy adversaries should Gers get back to a level they are accustomed to. What absolute nonsense! Just for once wouldn't it be nice if these cheerleaders could actually offer some insight on how Rangers plan to actually bridge this gap? OK riddle me this Chris.. Sevco Rangers are absolutely potless and going through money at a rate of knots so exactly how are they going to end up on an even financial footing to Celtic? Another loan from somewhere? Where from this time?.,.. Wonga? Fact is Sevco are operating at full capacity and struggling to keep the lights on. Mike Ashley isn't going away anytime soon and the big question is why Sevco want to get to the level Rangers were accustomed to? Don't forget that level was only reached through illegal means like side contracts and a bank willing to turn a blind eye to a sea of debt. Is this what Sevco are aspiring to reach because it seems very counter productive. How can these journos get away with writing such blatantly transparent muck?
Most people in Scotland are heartily sick of the media with their fantasy stories served up as fact and general contempt for the very people they are trying to connect with. It's not just in football we are seeing this happen, it's even worse in politics where the public is spoonfed utter guff by self serving journo's who have an agenda so clear it could be seen from outer space. Remember the Rancid Record and it's now infamous "The Vow" front page? Scotland's Champion newspaper helped to hoodwink a half asleep Scottish public into believing Westminster keep us in the union out of the goodness of their hearts! On that occasion they got away with it and honestly think people will believe anything they write. Whether it's football or politics they lie with impunity and when they can't back their words up they simply ignore the follow up questions.
In football most of these lazily written stories are aimed at soothing the average Sevconian. By and large Celtic supporters are not stupid, we are naturally skeptical and as a fanbase we have a bull**** detector that your average sevconian just cannot comprehend. It's why we will never be taken for a ride by these hacks. Sevconians are not all daft of course, there are some very intelligent ones out there, unfortunately they are drowned out by the sheer wave of noise made by the knuckledraggers who don't possess the ability to reason. Years of feelgood stories planted in the media have made them resistant to cold hard truths. Lies have become their comfort blanket and stories about the return of Rangers to put Timmy back in their place is what keeps them going. Maybe one day they will sort themselves out but right now they have no answers to their predicament, and when Celtic fans point out holes in their logic they reply with a staunch W.A.T.P Not exactly an answer to the tough questions these journalists should be asking for them! If anyone doubts this then they simply have to look at Chris Sutton. Only in Scotland could one man in the media cause such a stir by giving a balanced view!That's why they hate him and want him silenced.
Scotland's newspaper industry is dying and this contempt for their readers is the reason for it. Who wants to read something where the author is blatantly insulting your intelligence? These journos turn their nose up at nu-media but at least it's honest and free of some random PR company's infiltration. Just because someone isn't writing under the name of a newspaper does not mean they aren't qualified to put something down in print. Maybe we have gotten it wrong and Chris Jack and his ilk are merely taking advantage of some nice click-bait material and in all fairness when the headline came to my attention I did read it. However that's not the point of journalism is it? Surely the value of news is to empower the informed? Not take them for mugs!

I'm sick to the teeth hearing the word old firm Celtic are guilty as well, regarding resolution 12 etc, my cousin who is a staunch secco supporter still believes green bought the title's, and for the last four years says he can't believe we didn't win treble with them not in it ,but I shut him up when I pointed out they couldn't win it in all the LOWER LEAGUES
ReplyDeleteI have heard this type of stuff before Robert, Some of their fans are referring to our titles are tainted as well but its clear they don't know the meaning of the word. It is not Celtic's fault that Rangers went bust and common sense tells you that history cannot be bought so to suggest Green did is crazy. In time they will be preaching to the minority and eventually they will become an irrelevance.Soon these so called journalists will be looking for another job and another club or sport to support while a more confident nation takes control of its own destiny. ReplyDeleteThere are a few who see sevco for the tribute act they are but they get slaghtered by the knuckle draggers who are blind to all sense or reason due to this strange watp mantra. I do enjoy the journey to 10 in a row whilst handing out 5-1 beatings. TBH tho I personally believe that the world can be a better place when they die forever.
Chris 'union' Jack should report facts, the truth, instead of the 'comforting lies' the Sevco Neanderthals crave.

What can you say about these peepell who are so in love with their YooKay and their wee German/English queen they sell Scotland out at every opportunity.
Bang their drums and pump their flutes while waving their wee union jacks...that's all they seem to live for.
If only the tribute act would die like the original bigots we in Scottish football could look forward to a union jack, 1690, Billy Boys free future.
