Sevco's Ramblings Mean Hogmany Can't Come Quick Enough

Is there something in the water down Ibrox way at the moment? I only ask because the last few days have seen some unparalleled levels of absolute nonsense emanate from that direction and you have to wonder if the three involved are giving each other a wink and a nudge everytime one trumps the other for sheer idiocy. Seriously as hard as it is to believe, the comments in the past few days may be the pinnacle of Sevco buffoonery and dare I say that our three subjects have actually managed to make Derek Johnstone look intelligent and informed. Where have we seen this movie before? Hmmm how about everytime we are due to play them? If you've not heard the comments from Kris Boyd, Mark Warburton and Le Hodson then prepare yourself for an early Christmas gift of some classic Sevco delusion wrapped up in a neat little bow.

First up is Kris Boyd, a man who seems to be the Sevco answer to our very own Chris Sutton. I use the term "seems to be" because at first glance he appears to be from the very same mould as the Englishman in the "outspoken pundit" department. Unfortunately the similarities end there because upon closer inspection we can clearly see that while Chris is straight down the line and forms his opinions based on facts.. Kris leans slightly towards the more intellectually challenged element of the Sevco support and will spout any old garbage if he thinks it will get people mentioning his name. Fresh from his much maligned comments about Ian Cathro, he gave his opinion on the upcoming Hogmany game and declared Rangers were good enough to beat Celtic. Fair enough if that's the guy's opinion then you can't question it. What you can question however, was his follow up claim that there wasn't much in the recent 5-1 game at Celtic Park. OK Kris let's help you out with the stats of that game then we'll say no more about it:

Now onto Mark Warburton, who has been doing some cheerleading on behalf of the Sevco striker Joe Garner. Apparently Joe is a player in the mould of Andy Gray and Warbs just adores the former Preston hitman so much that he is willing to talk utter trash just to give him a wee confidence boost. Consider this statement: "He can play, his touch is good and he has an eye for goal" Yes well clearly we can dismiss that guff straight away considering this "eye for goal" has saw him hit a measly 3 goals this season. Warbs didn't stop there though and claimed that Joe's standing ovation was so good you'd have thought he scored a hat-trick against Hearts. Just for the record he actually didn't hit the net once but it's good to hear how the Sevconians expectations are being systematically lowered season after season. Who know's next year they'll probably give a standing ovation to the kitman. Call me cynical but the only reason I can think for this Joe Garner love in concerns the fact Sevco are skint and need to get players off the books. Why not talk this English League 1 standard striker up in the hope some mickey mouse team down South take a punt on him. Sevconians and their wily ways eh.

Finally we get to what may be the absolute best comment yet in Sevco's four year odd existence. Lee Hodson (who) has claimed he has a fight on his hands to get into the starting line up because... wait for it.... Sevco have the best fullbacks in the country. Now that you've picked yourself up from the floor and stopped laughing we can consider the merits of his claims. Lee Wallace is not a bad left back, he is a decent player in this author's opinion and quite a few teams would be lucky to have him. Not us you understand, but a St. Johnstone or whatever. Unfortunately for Sevco, James Tavernier on the right is absolutely mince and pales in comparison to the likes of Mikael Lustig, Shay Logan and Callum Paterson. The side with the so called best full backs in the country have also conceded the most goals out of the top three teams in the league. Hardly concrete evidence for Hodson's claim is it?

Of course what has been written and said over the past few days will soon be forgotten and replaced with another round of unsubstantiated and insane ramblings from the Sevconians. This author genuinely cannot wait for the game on Hogmany. For goodness sake, Celtic shut this mob up again and do away with their misplaced arrogance, at least until the weeks leading up to the next time we play them. It really is tiresome now!

Hail Hail
